The Pickleball Problem
Easy to Start.
Easy to Fall in Love With.
Easy to Overdo.
Pickleball has one of the lowest barriers to entry of any sport — which is exactly why it's exploded across San Diego. Anyone can pick up a paddle and start playing within minutes. But that same accessibility is also the problem.
People fall in love with the game fast, and they start playing constantly — three, four, five days a week, sometimes more. Joints, tendons, and muscles that aren't used to that kind of repetitive lateral movement and quick stopping start to break down. The result: overuse injuries that sneak up gradually, then suddenly become impossible to ignore.
Conditions We Treat
Common Pickleball
Injuries We Resolve
If you're dealing with any of these, you're far from alone — and there's a clear path forward.
Pickleball Elbow
Similar to tennis elbow — repeated wrist extension and poor backhand technique inflame the tendons on the outside of the elbow.
Knee Pain
The most commonly reported pickleball injury. Quick lateral movements, pivots, and sudden stops place repeated stress on the knee joint.
Shoulder Injuries
Overhead shots and repetitive swinging motions can lead to rotator cuff irritation and shoulder impingement over time.
Ankle Sprains
One of the most frequently reported injuries — caused by quick lateral shifts, pivots, and sudden changes in direction on the court.
Achilles Tendonitis
Overuse of the tendon connecting the calf to the heel, often from repetitive quick starts, stops, and direction changes.
Lower Back Pain
Poor posture, hunching during play, and repetitive twisting motions during shots can lead to chronic low back soreness.
The Real Fix
If You Want to Play Pickleball for Years, You Need More Than Rest.
"Higher skill level and more weekly play hours are both linked to lower injury risk — meaning the better-conditioned players get hurt less, not more."
Resting an overuse injury might calm it down temporarily, but it doesn't fix the underlying issue. If your joints, tendons, and muscles aren't strong enough to handle the repetitive demands of the game, the pain will keep coming back every time you return to the court. The real fix is building the specific strength and movement capacity your body needs to play pickleball without breaking down.
Address the Current Pain
